DIY: woolen necklace

August 30, 2013

Hi there! Happy DIY day! Are you in love with necklaces and love making your own? I made this gorgeous necklace and it's perfect for making every simple outfit into an outfit with that certain something! If you have a little bit of yarn left over from past knitting, embroidery or sewing projects all you need is a necklace and some cardboard paper! Easy to make and pretty to wear...

What you need:
  • wool (in the color of your choice)
  • cardboard (white)
  • chain necklace or leather band depending on what kind of necklace you would like
  • modge podge or something similar
  • scissors
  • needle
Let the fun begin by cutting out 4 circles using the white cardboard. Try using different sizes. I made 3 pieces almost the same size and 1 that was bigger.

Take a brush and spread some modge podge on your cardboard circle. Take the wool and start wrapping it around in a circle.

Do this with all the pieces. Let it dry and then use a tiny pair of scissors and cut off all excess of cardboard. Then apply another layer of modge podge on top of the wool. This will make the woolen necklace more resistant and will make sure that the wool stays in shape.

Take a needle and pinch a hole on each side of every wool circle. Take a string or a loop and connect the circles with one another.

Connect the circles with your chosen necklace type and you are almost done making your woolen necklace. The last thing you need to do is to put it on and wear it!

I love wearing my woolen necklace with a simple white t-shirt or a maxi dress depending on what I'm in the mood for. But because it is getting colder outside already I am now wearing it with colorful shirts and fun prints. This necklace has the certain something to make it stand out but at the same time blend in perfectly with the rest of your outfit! I am feeling all happy when I put it on plus I received a lot of compliments on it already! Yay for that! Who doesn't love compliments?

All in LOVE! What about you? Do you like it, want to make it, buy it or did you get inspired for a different necklace project?
